FWGA Member Places at NCGA Tournament

Congratulations to FWGA member Kelly Tague.  She finished in a tie for 8th place in the Public Links Net Golf Tournament held at Spyglass Hill and Poppy Hills April 27 & 28.  Kelly said " I feel pretty good considering I took a bad fall in the shower/bath tub at  the motel room Tuesday morning and played hurt at Poppy Hills!"

That's spirit Kelly!

FWGA April 26 Gold Country Invitational

Sunday, April 26 was day two of our Gold Country invitational away tournament. While the weather had been enough of a downpour to cancel the Saturday golf, Sunday turned into a beautiful day for our 28 golfers. We played a Cha-Cha-Cha format and the first place team of Wendy Ngoy, Bonifacio Perez, Kristina Ramos and Sarah Good brought in the low score of 119. Second place went to Kelly Tague, Liz Riddle, Birgit Pearson and Linda Davis with  a 126. Low gross was Deb Ortega with 77 and low net went to Kelly Tague with 62. Closest to the pin on #4 was Kristina Ramos at 10' 8" and #14 was Liz Riddle at 25' 4". No chip ins, but Liz Riddle and Alice Schultz each had two birdies. Julie Campiotti, Sarah Good and Kristina Ramos each had one birdie. Two of our players had personal best ever low scores. Kristina Ramos shot a 79 and Julie Campiotti shot 78. Way to go, ladies! Finally, I want to praise the taco bar that was provided for us after golf. It was absolutely delicious and the perfect way to finish off our weekend.

2nd place was:  April Kenyon, Carole Patke, Della Gutierrez and Wendy Ngoy with a team score of 141.

Closest to the Pin was Liz Riddle (hole #6) and Kristina Ramos (hole #13),

Low Gross went to April Kenyon who shot an 83 and Low Net went to Kristina Ramos who shot a 68 for the round.

We also had several ladies add their names to the “Birdy Board”: Liz Riddle, Stephanie Roberts, Julie Campiotti, Kristina Ramos, Sarah Good and April Kenyon.  Kristina Ramos also captured an “Eagle”.  Horray for her.

I want to thank Liz Riddle for capturing the team pictures as the girls finished the 18th hole and Dee Touhy for her excellent scoring.

Thanks to all we had an excellent weather day and a great tournament.

FWGA-Passing of Dot Yardley, Long Time Member

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our long time member, Dot Yardley, on 4/20 from a massive stroke. Dot was age 82 but you would never have known it from her busy life filled with golf, skiing, travel, friends and family.  Dot was truly one of a kind and her wonderful smile will be sorely missed.

2015 FWGA General Meeting

The Fore Women Golf Association held the first event of the year on March 28 th at the Las Positas Golf Course in Livermore.  60 members and guest enjoyed the general meeting where they connected with their golfing friends for a great breakfast.  There was time for shopping for new golf wear with spring fashions presented by GG Blues, EP Pro and  Antiqua as well as learning about how to take care of our skin from the Arbonne representative.

Members were introduced to the FWGA board who gave brief reports on upcoming events, clinics,  tournaments and our charity's work.   Our guest speaker for the morning , Craig Lewandoski, PT from Valley Care Medical Center and certified golf fitness trainer, gave an excellent presentation on staying fit for golf.  He gave some easy exercises and techniques for staying in shape which all golfers can use.

Members kicked off the spring golf season by a round of golf at Las Positas playing either the the executive course or 18 hole.  The course was in in good condition and the weather was perfect for golfing.  A fun day of golf always improves spirits and renews friendships for golfing. Please check the weekly schedule for upcoming golf opportunities and the great schedule of clinics.  See you all on the course.
