2017 General Meeting Announced

The first Forewomen Golf Association's event of 2017 is scheduled for Saturday, March 25 at Redwood Canyon Golf Course in Castro Valley. This is a great opportunity for you to join your fellow golfers and potential new members (bring an interested guest) to find out about the activities planned for the year. You will be able to enjoy a hosted breakfast followed by an opportunity to meet the board members, hear from committees, and hear a speaker presenting exciting ways to improve your game. There will be time for shopping before and after the meeting as well. At noon you may enjoy a round of casual play of either 9 or 18 holes.
Please go to the website to RSVP for breakfast and contact the course for a tee time( let them know you are with Forewomen when you make your tee time). The deadline to register is March 14. Registration opens February 14.
it is the opening of the season and a great time to reconnect with old friends and develop friendships with new.

This is a course that rewards the “thinking golfer…length and power are not the most critical skills required to play the course well.”
There is a variety of terrain throughout the course – front nine is routed through the valley and the back nine sits on a higher elevation with the Happy Valley Creek winding throughout. Views of Mt. Diablo fill the sky to the north and sanctuaries dedicated to the Callippe Silverspot Butterflly are displayed on holes 11 thru 14. In case you were not aware, this butterfly is medium sized with a wingspan of 4 to 5 cm and is found in native grasslands where females lay their eggs on the flowering host plant – Johny Jump-Up. It is a Federally Endangered butterfly. What a treat it would be to spot one while playing these holes!
